PS3 Incompatibility with Previous Games

As has been suggested earlier, the PS3 may not function correctly with some games designed for PS1 or PS2. Well today, CNN Headline News (yes, on TV) reported that there were indeed games that would have this issue. It was not quantified on their broadcast. The issue they cited was that many games will display incorrect graphics or make improper sounds.

What's really important here is that the mainstream media is reporting this glitch, and as a result even those boring people who don't read websites such as this one will be made aware of this fault. Something tells me it still won't hold back demand anywhere near enough for sales to be hurt in the earliest stages, but it will most likely frustrate some gamers.

Update: FoxNews is now also reporting the story, adding that 200 of the library of approximately 8000 may suffer this flaw.
