Namco Must Sell Buttloads of PS3 Games
According to Namco Bandai's President, Takeo Takasu, the company must sell over 500,000 units of its PS3 titles before it begins to make a profit. The price of developing graphics alone for PS3 games costs the puiblisher one billion yen, which is more than DOUBE that of titles for Nintendo's Wii, according to Bloomberg.
With the release of Ridge Racer 7 and Mobile Suit Gundam for PS3 selling 22,000 copies each respectivley on its weekend debut, the company has quite a distance to go before hitting that profit margin. Hot damn! It's going to be tough to sell that many copies without there even being that many consoles in the market. Ouch.
