Countdown to Black Friday

Thanksgiving usually means spending time with family, eating large quantities of food and trying to remember the usual historic connotations that have become lost in our society. It also means one day left until Black Friday, one of the most notorious (and in recent years, violent) shopping day's of the year. As probably guessed by the sudden influx of television advertisements, most retail chains will be opening several hours earlier to accommodate needy shoppers looking to garner the best deals for the lowest price. And if any gamers out there have yet to purchase a next-gen system, Black Friday might be the only shot doing so.

Though not advertised in any print or other media sources, rumors have been pouring in as to the amount of PS3's or Wii's that could possible be available on Friday morning. Those still looking might want to start planning ahead as consoles are most likely guaranteed to be short supply, and with gamers all over still trying to secure a system for the weekend, lines are probably going to start forming.

Currently, Best Buy is rumored to have around 12 Wii's per store (no word on PS3's, but it might not be a bad idea to check...depending on how badly you really want one). EB Games/GameStop will be opening at 7am and having called several locations they all seem to be anticipating crowds, having disclosed that Wii's will be available. Also, Target is downplaying rumors of incoming shipments (depending on who you ask) but a Target store close to me thinks they'll have more sometime during the weekend. Whatever the case, make sure you hit store early. Personally, I've never shopped on Black Friday, but if it's anything like what I've been hearing, it'll be brutal.

Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at Gamers Outlook!
