PS3 Controller No Longer Named Dual Shock

That's right, earlier today Sony announced the name of its new controller for its upcoming PS3 console. Having decided to drop the rumble feature for its new controller (the 'shock' in Dual Shock), Sony has come up with the name Six Axis. The new name makes reference to the controller's motion sensor capabilities.

Sony also elaborated upon peripheral usage. One 'Six Axis' controller will be boxed with the console come November (pretty standard considering). However, to take advantage of the multiplayer function, a separate peripheral will also be needed. One can probably assume that this extra device will be similarly designed to the PS2's Multi-tap device. Just as interesting is the fact that every controller will have a lithium-ion battery that can be charged via the PS3's USB outlet. A single charge should take around thirty hours.

Finally, Sony has also slapped a 5,000 yen price (roughly $40 here in the states) for anyone looking to pick up an extra controller. A tad bit pricey, no?

Sony is a joke, still ripping off every other company and never improving on the basics. They ripped the Wii with the motion, and 360 with the center power guide button. But STILL require people to buy a multitap device. What a joke.
