Wii-less?
As quickly as pre-orders for Sony's costly new PS3 console vanished within minutes of EB Games/Gamestop opening on Wednesday, so have pre-orders for Nintendo's Wii console disappeared as well. The popular retail outlet opened its doors around the country at 10 am only to find lines of console-hungry fans eager to put $50 down towards what could soon be known as the best selling of the next generation consoles. Minutes later the pre-orders became extinct and some fans who had been waiting for hours were turned away. Though earlier reports claimed stores had roughly around 50 Wii units to reserve, most EB Games (at least on the North side of Chicago, IL) only had about 30 to hand out before turning customers away. How discouraging.
There is a small silver lining, however, as EB Games/Gamestop does plan to use a separate pre-ordering system for people who wish to reserve their Wii units online. Stay tuned to find out exactly when online Wii pre-ordering becomes available.

My friend came home empty handed (cooincidently in the Northern Suburbs of Chicago). Yesterday, I pointed him to my article where I wrote it would sell out in minutes. He was dissapointed and I told him I wasn't surprised at the result.
I went to my Gamestop about 15 minutes before opening and they were sold out. EBgames right down the block was sold out too.
The funny thing is, the ps3 reserve hoopla wasn't anywhere near the wii, I got a ps3 reserve, [was 3rd in line for it] but got snubbed on this.
I'll be camping out at a 24 hour Meijer November 18th with a few friends.
