PS3 Game Pricing Presented By Activision
On September 12 at the Merrill Lynch Media & Entertainment Conference an announcement was made concerning pricing for Sony's upcoming PS3 console. Activision CEO Robert Kotick unveiled the company's plan to market their PS3 games at $60 a piece, the method currently being adopted by XBox 360 software.
Interestingly enough, IGN confirmed Kotick was only speaking in reference to games for the PS3 and 360 consoles, not Nintendo's Wii. It appears hopeful that all Nintendo software might stick to the usual $50 price tag that's worked in the past.
There's probably little doubt as to how $60 games make people feel after buying a $500-$600 system. Though it could be worse, like way back when Super Nintendo games were priced highly past $50 into the $60-$70 region. Remember, it can always get worse.
